AbstractEcological degradation is a grim phenomenon on a global level, and the situation is particularly severe in China's vulnerable ecological regions. In China's 13~(th) five-year national development plan, which was implemented in 2016, China prioritized the establishment of an ecological civilization (i.e., one that exists in harmony with natural systems) and improvement of ecological security as key issues for the country's sustainable development strategy. However, the lack of a scientifically sound evaluation system and methodology has been a serious problem in assessing and recommending suitable technologies for ecosystem restoration.
